Which mattress cover to choose?
Choosing the right mattress takes some time. It is necessary to consider the size of the bed, the material from which it is made and, finally, the degree of firmness. The choice of cover is no less important, so it is worth choosing one that will last for years and retain its original properties.
Should it be soft or firm? Should I sleep comfortably or feel like I’m lying on the floor? Above all, the mattress should help maintain the correct position during sleep. Once you’ve found the right firmness level for yourself, choose a cover that allows you to take care of the hygiene of the mattress. While you cannot put the whole mattress in the washing machine, you can easily remove and wash the cover. Here you can see the differences between the different versions:
Dormia
This cover is made of polyester. Many people will abandon buying it once they see this word, but this is totally unfair! Although polyester is an artificial material that is produced in a chemical laboratory, its production does not involve the suffering of animals or the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides in the cultivation of the plants used for textiles. It is also very durable, resistant to staining and stretching and does not promote bacterial growth. In some cases, it appears that such an artificial fabric may even be a better option than a natural one. Although the Dormia cover is made of polyester, it is very breathable and soft to the touch. It also has anti-allergic and anti-fungal properties. This keeps the cover clean for a long time and makes cleaning it really quick and easy.
Aloe Vera
The composition of the cover is 33% cotton and 65% polyester, with the addition of aloe vera leaf extract. It is an ideal option for allergy sufferers and anyone who appreciates skin-friendly solutions. Cotton and polyester make the cover very durable and really soft to the touch. Meanwhile, the aloe vera content adds antibacterial and anti-allergenic properties to the fabric. The extract itself is often used in cosmetics. It moisturises the skin and is a 100% natural plant substance. This makes the cover suitable even for the most sensitive skin.
Silver Active
This is the cover with the richest composition. It contains Tencel, cotton, polyamide and, as the name suggests, silver. Tencel is referred to as the ‘fibre of the future’. It is manufactured from wood-derived cellulose using non-toxic solvents, which makes it completely natural. It is characterised by high durability and good thermal regulation. It is therefore not surprising that there are high hopes for its use in textile production in the future. In addition to its anti-allergen and anti-fungal properties, the cover provides great ventilation and a pleasant feel. Have I already mentioned the silver thread? It dissipates electrostatic charges. Doesn’t that sound great? That’s because it is!
Medicott
The Medicott cover is the first choice for anyone who appreciates naturalness and softness. It is composed of 75% cotton. Its fibres are impregnated to prevent the accumulation of dust and dust mites. This treatment makes it a suitable choice for all allergy sufferers. It also has anti-fungal properties and is highly resistant to stretching. The cotton material guarantees softness and a pleasant feeling during use and makes the cover a very environmentally friendly product.
All the covers mentioned above feature a zip-fastener on three sides, which makes them very easy to remove. Just put them in the washing machine and you can rest assured that your mattress is always clean and fresh. Just bear in mind that it needs to be washed at 40°C and must not be dry-cleaned.
